I am an assistant professor of philosophy and bioethicist in Arizona State University's School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies. Previously, I was the Harold T. Shapiro Postdoctoral Research Associate in Bioethics for Princeton University's Center for Human Values. I earned my Ph.D. in philosophy at the University of Pennsylvania, where I also studied social, cognitive, and affective neuroscience at Penn's Center for Neuroscience and Society.
I specialize in ethics, bio/neuroethics, and the philosophy of race. Currently, much of my time is spent thinking about how race and racism intersect with health, medicine, and emerging biotechnologies. Additionally, I am interested in how virtue ethics (or, moral philosophy, more generally) might influence investigation into contemporary social issues typically monopolized by political philosophy.
